Over the past year, Volterra Fietta was hired by clients in multiple new, complex and ground-breaking disputes before international and domestic courts and tribunals. For those new cases which involve a precise damages figure (for example, not counting boundary disputes at the International Court of Justice), the combined total claim value exceeds USD 40,000,000,000 (forty billion US dollars).
Each of the Volterra Fietta partners secured multiple client instructions as counsel in new cases this past year. Three Volterra Fietta partners each secured instructions for new cases with combined total claim values of over USD 1,000,000,000 (one billion US dollars). Two of those each secured instructions for new cases with combined total claim values of over USD 10,000,000,000 (ten billion US dollars).
These include cases in the following sectors:
In addition, Volterra Fietta was hired by clients as counsel on multiple global disputes whose “value” cannot be monetised, including: climate change litigation; inter-State land and sea boundary disputes; international humanitarian/criminal law defence; International Labour Organisation disputes; multi-jurisdictional protection from bribery and extortion; international trade disputes between regional blocks; and sovereign immunity defences for States before foreign courts and tribunals. None of these matters were undertaken by the firm pro bono or “bought” for credentials by charging under-market fees.
“Volterra Fietta is the firm that other lawyers fear.”
