Volterra Fietta’s intensive hearing schedule for 2026 continued apace, as partner Robert G Volterra led a Volterra Fietta team last week in another ICSID hearing. This was Robert’s seventh hearing as counsel, this calendar year to date. He has one more full hearing before the summer break.
Robert appears as lead counsel and advocate in many of the firm’s most complex and high value disputes, acting for multinational companies and States alike. These include investment treaty and commercial arbitrations, State-to-State disputes at the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and high-stakes disputes involving States before the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. The global legal directories note that clients say Robert is much sought-after for his advocacy skills.
Joining him in making the oral pleadings at last week’s ICSID hearing was Volterra Fietta partner Ahmed Abdel Hakam. Ahmed has a full advocacy schedule through the second half of the year. This includes an ICSID hearing in a complex and high value media and satellite dispute in which he is lead counsel.
Pictured here with Ahmed and Robert are Volterra Fietta counsel Florentine Vos and associate Naomi Agbessi. Florentine is running three major international arbitrations for investors and States alike. She will be pleading in another ICSID hearing in July.
“When you see them in action at hearings against other lawyers, you understand why the Volterra Fietta team of Robert Volterra, Gunjan Sharma and Ahmed Abdel Hakam are known as unbeatable advocates and fearsome cross-examiners.”
