Volterra Fietta Partner, Ahmed Abdel-Hakam, speaks at International Society of Military Sciences annual conference in Denmark

Ahmed Abdel-Hakam presented a lecture last week at the Annual Conference of the International Society for Military Sciences (“ISMS”).  Ahmed’s talk dealt with the topic of State responsibility and the exploitation of natural resources during times of war.  Ahmed had been invited to speak by the Royal Danish Defence College.

The conference took place on the 7th and the 8th of November in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Participants included academics as well as official delegations from many States including:  Canada; China; Denmark; Norway; Sweden; the United Kingdom; and the United States of America.

The ISMS is an informal network of defence academics and military personal of all ranks.  It was created by the Austrian National Defence Academy, the Baltic Defence College, the Royal Military College of Canada, the Royal Danish Defence College, the Finnish National Defence University, the Netherlands Defence Academy, the Norwegian Defence University College and the Swedish Defence University.  Its aim is to further research, knowledge, and expertise, in military arts and sciences in the broadest sense.
