Volterra Fietta partner Ahmed Abdel-Hakam appointed to Visiting Scholar Research Term in public international law at the University of Cambridge

Volterra Fietta partner Ahmed Abdel-Hakam is taking up a position as Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge’s Lauterpacht Centre for International Law.  Ahmed’s position as Visiting Scholar – from September to December 2023 – will be part-time, enabling him to continue servicing his clients at Volterra Fietta.

The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is the world’s pre-eminent research centre focused on international law.  It is one of the specialist Centres of the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge.  The Centre was founded in 1983 by Professor Sir Elihu Lauterpacht KC to provide a forum for the discussion and development of international law.  It hosts a number of visiting scholars and research projects on an ongoing basis.

The Centre conducts multidisciplinary research in every aspect of international law.  Ahmed’s position as Visiting Scholar will enable him to dedicate time to researching issues that are part of the Firm’s cutting-edge public international law practice.  In particular, Ahmed will be focusing on State Responsibility issues around the status and the extent to which natural resources located in occupied territory can be legitimately exploited in times of war.
