The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is the world’s pre-eminent research centre focused on international law. It is one of the specialist Centres of the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge. The Centre was founded in 1983 by Professor Sir Elihu Lauterpacht KC to provide a forum for the discussion and development of international law. It hosts a number of visiting scholars and research projects on an ongoing basis.
The Centre conducts multidisciplinary research in every aspect of international law. Ahmed’s position as Visiting Scholar will enable him to dedicate time to researching issues that are part of the Firm’s cutting-edge public international law practice. In particular, Ahmed will be focusing on State Responsibility issues around the status and the extent to which natural resources located in occupied territory can be legitimately exploited in times of war.
Ahmed said: “It is a great honour to have been selected by the Lauterpacht Centre for this position. I am excited about the opportunity this will give me to develop further my knowledge of our Firm’s specialised field of law. I know that Volterra Fietta’s clients will reap the benefits of my experience at such a renowned centre for public international law.”
